Take Your Health to Heart
The Heart Truth is a national awareness campaign, sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, being embraced by millions who share the goal of better heart health for all women. The campaign not only warns women about heart disease, but it equips them to take action against risk factors.
Why has Diet Coke teamed up with The Heart Truth campaign?
Because heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women. Yet one-third of women still underestimate their own risk for heart disease.
Sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Take Action
Heart disease, for the most part, is preventable — it's all about managing your risk. And together, we can achieve healthier hearts everywhere, one heart at a time, starting with our own. Here are a few ways to take action now:

Talk to Your Doctor
It's never too early — or too late — to take your heart health into your own hands. Talk to your doctor about your personal risk, so that you can take action to lower it.
Know Your Risk Factors:
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Smoking
- Being overweight or obese
- Being physically inactive
- Age 55 or older
- Family history
Know Your Numbers:
- Blood pressure
- Cholesterol — total, LDL ("bad"), HDL ("good"), triglycerides
- Body mass index and waist circumference measurement
- Blood glucose level (could indicate risk for diabetes)
